Board of Directors
Message from the
Board of Directors
2008
The Board of Directors for the Bent Arrow Traditional Healing Society, wishes to convey their pleasure in reporting to the membership and staff of Bent Arrow, that again we have had another successful, challenging and exciting year in providing supports and services to the Aboriginal children, youth, adults, and families involved with our programs, as well as the multicultural Foster Parents who provide homes for the Aboriginal children and youth in care. Bent Arrow has also been even more successful in working with municipal, provincial and federal partners for the betterment of our Aboriginal community.
Again in the past year, the Society has facilitated several annual and successful events including the Community Christmas, Summer Camps, and the Casino. The board recognizes and congratulates all Bent Arrow staff and community partners who were involved in the successful hosting of the events, as we well know, none of these events would have been successful without the dedication and commitment of the staff.
Finally, this past year saw fourteen years of service to our Aboriginal community and to the Edmonton community with a number of events, such as the open house which provided agency information to the public, and the first Annual Shauna Seneca Memorial Round Dance. What a journey it has been; from 3 staff and one program to almost 100 staff and 15 to 17 different programs at any given time.
In closing, we are sure you join the Board of Directors in congratulating Cheryl Whiskeyjack in her promotion to the position of Executive Director. We are confident in her ability to continue to lead the Society with honesty, skill and commitment. The Board's roles and responsibilities are made easier with her leadership and integrity.
We look forward to another successful year for all of us.
